The beautiful and popular sandy beach of Analipsi is located in the northern part of the Greek island of Crete, about 22 km east of the capital Heraklion (Iraklion).
The beach forms part of the eponymous resort of Analipsi, a picturesque town with good tourist facilities. A beautiful small church standing right by the sea dominates the coastline surrounding the resort. To the east of the church is the beautiful sandy beach of Analipsi, while to the west there are smaller pebble to rocky beaches.
Analipsi is a relatively long and spacious beach covered with fine, warm sand. It has also gained popularity among children and non-swimmers, as the shoreline drops very gently into the water and is usually quite warm at these shallower depths. The beach has been awarded the EU Blue Flag for its crystal clear waters and tourist facilities.
Analipsi Beach is equipped with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas, and you can also use the shower or the beach bar. The local sports clubs offer popular water activities such as jet skiing, pedal boats and windsurfing. A pretty promenade follows the coastline, with plenty of tasty tavernas and restaurants, small cafés and a variety of shops.
Towards the west there will be more pebbles and smaller rocks and less bustle and tourists. If you want some peace and privacy, head to this rocky part of the coast. The crystal clear water is also available here and the area is popular with divers and snorkelers. We recommend water shoes, however, as sea urchins can be found here. The smaller beaches to the west of Analipsi are ideal for romantic evening strolls.
