The very well organized, sandy beach Damnoni is located in the southern part of the Greek island of Crete, about 113 km southwest of the capital Heraklion (Iraklion).
Damnoni beach forms part of the smaller and peaceful holiday resort of Damnoni, located about 35 km south of Rethymno and 3 km east of Plakias.
The spacious Damnoni beach is covered with coarse, light sand, which contrasts beautifully with the turquoise waters of the Cretan Sea. The entrance to the sea is gradual and the waters are usually calm.
Damnoni beach stretches inside a long bay, in close proximity to the resort and its services. On the beach, visitors can find sun loungers with umbrellas, showers and changing rooms, refreshment stands and restaurants. In addition to the classic water adrenaline sports, there is also a diving centre and a nearby horse farm which organises horse rides for those interested.
The western part of the beach is more organised, while the eastern end is quieter and there are several small and isolated sandy coves hidden among the rocks.
