Elounda Beach is the main beach of the modern and luxurious resort of the same name, located at the northern edge of Mirabello Bay. The opposite peninsula of Spinalonga, together with the small island of Kalydon (on which the famous Spinalonga Fortress stands), protects the coast of the resort from strong winds and other adverse weather conditions, making the sea very calm and also beautifully warm. Elounda beach is very close to the harbour.

The coastline in this area is very rugged and mostly rocky, yet Elounda Beach is one of the sandy beaches. Its surface is made up of rather coarse sand, which, however, stretches along its entire length and continues for a short distance along the seabed. The beach descends gently into the sea, the underwater surface is free of any sharp reefs and the sea is beautifully clear, warm and calm, making Elounda an ideal place for families, including young children and the elderly, to enjoy the water.

Elounda is an organised beach and visitors can enjoy quality facilities such as sunbeds and umbrellas for hire, beach showers and even a lifeguard to keep an eye on their safety. More active tourists can take advantage of the beach volleyball court and the range of adrenaline-pumping water activities on offer. There are pleasant tavernas and smaller refreshment stands right on the beach, and you can also enjoy a refreshing cocktail from the beach bar.

In addition to the largest beach, Elounda, the resort also has another smaller sandy beach, Hiona (also known as Poros), and several small beaches belonging to individual luxury hotels.
