The long sandy beach of Stavros is one of the three main beaches of the seaside resort of the same name, which is located on the Akrotiri peninsula, about 16 km northeast of the regional town of Chania. Being located at the very tip of the peninsula, it is a relatively quiet area.

Stavros Beach is located in the north-eastern part of the resort, next to the picturesque local harbour of Stavros and directly opposite the steep, camel-shaped hill of Vardies. The beach and its surroundings are famous for the famous film "Zorba the Greek" starring Anthony Quinn (1964), as the final scenes were filmed here. Among the locals it is nicknamed "Zorbas' Beach". Despite its uniqueness, the beach retains a mostly quiet atmosphere without crowds of tourists, as it is already quite remote from the main Cretan roads.

The surface of the beach is made of fine sand and the shoreline descends only gently into the sea. The waters glow turquoise, creating a nice colour contrast with the white sand. Because the beach is partially hidden in a lagoon and protected from the open sea by a high rock, the sea is usually very calm. This is why families with smaller children like to come here.

Stavros is a semi-organised beach, with sunbeds and umbrellas available for rent, but visitors can also use the open space. There are several tavernas and bars and other tourist services near the beach. However, water sports are not practiced on any of the local beaches.
