Niké

In Greek mythology, Niké is the goddess of speed, strength and victory.

Niké was the daughter of Styx (who represented hatred) and the titan Pallas (who in turn was the embodiment of battle).

Her sisters were named Biá (violence), Zélos (power, effort) and Kratos (strength). Together, they helped Zeus fight the Titans. For this help, they were rewarded by being protected forever by Zeus, and they would stand by his throne.

The Greeks especially worshipped Nike because they believed she could make them immortal. They also believed that he could give them strength and speed and thus help them to win in any field. Niké always carried a wreath to crown the victor in a game or battle.
