Selene

In Greek mythology, Selene is the goddess of the moon. She is the daughter of the titan Thea and the titan Hyperion, and her siblings are named Hélios (god of the sun) and Éós (goddess of the morning reds).

Selene loved the shepherd Endymion, whom Zeus condemned to eternal sleep, but also to immense beauty. Selene tried to wake him every night, but never succeeded. That's why her light is said to be so sad. Another source says she and Endymiôn had 50 daughters together.

Another legend claims that Pan (the god of forests, pastures and herds) lured her into the forest (in the form of a white ram) and gave her a fleece that emits a white light in return for her love.
