Helona Beach - Kos Island

Helona

The remote, beautiful natural beach of Helona Beach is located in the southwestern part of the Greek island of Kos, about 31 km southwest of the capital. The surrounding rocks, low green bushes and stones on the beach give Helona Beach a rather wild look.

Helona Beach, sometimes spelled Xelona Beach, is located on the southern coast of Kos, in a remote area outside the island's busiest holiday resorts. Helona is a very quiet to deserted beach, protected by the surrounding rocky hills covered with low vegetation.

The surface of the beach is mixed, with uneven stretches and rocky patches, which creates the specific character of the beach. Fine sand is mixed with large pebbles and stones. The beach descends gently into the sea, but the rocks make it more difficult to enter the water, so water shoes are recommended. The sea is crystal clear and mostly calm.

Helona Beach is a purely natural, unorganized beach where everyone can find their own spot and enjoy undisturbed peace and privacy. Due to the limited tourist facilities on site, we recommend that beachgoers bring plenty of liquids and food. Heading west, further to the right along the coast, one can walk to the small Blue Beach with one row of sunbeds and a beach bar.

Helona Beach is located at the turn-off from the main road connecting the main town of Kos and the popular resort of Kefalos. The road to the coast is unpaved but passable with care. A trip to Helona beach is ideal for tourists who seek unorganized places with a quiet atmosphere and wild surrounding nature.
