Mastichari, a sandy beach with emerald clear water and a touch of exoticism, is located on the northern coast of the Greek island of Kos, about 21 km southwest of the capital. In combination with the excellent tourist facilities, Mastichari beach is also suitable for families with children and, thanks to the larger waves, is also popular with windsurfing enthusiasts.
Mastichari Beach is a very spacious beach, about 2 km long, located in the middle of the northern coast of the island of Kos. Along its entire length, the beach is covered with fine white sand, washed by crystal clear sea. Many people say that the beach looks like something from the Pacific Ocean, and rate Mastichari as one of the most beautiful beaches on Kos. This is certainly helped by the fact that spectacular sunsets can be seen from the beach.
Shrubs and other greenery grow close to the beach, providing natural shade on hot summer days. The beach is located at the popular resort of the same name, Mastichari, and is quite busy during the high season. If you're looking for a bit more peace and privacy, head to the secluded and unorganised edges of the beach. If you follow the coastline to the right, in a northerly direction, you will reach the smaller port of Mastichari.
Mastichari is one of the popular destinations for family holidays, as the sea is pleasantly warm in summer and the coastline slopes gently. Thanks to the favourable weather conditions, the beach is also popular with windsurfing, kitesurfing and other water activities. The beach is very well equipped for tourists with plenty of colourful sunbeds and umbrellas, showers, several water sports centres and a windsurfing school. There are restaurants, bars, shops and accommodation close to the beach.
We recommend a visit to one of the local tavernas, where the dishes of fresh fish and other seafood are delicious. Mastichari is also known as a fishing town, so fresh fish gets to the restaurants very quickly. In addition to the fishing boats, cruise yachts and boats are also moored in the harbour, providing a daily connection to the island of Kalymnos.
Mastichari beach is easily accessible by car, with a drive of about half an hour from the capital Kos. Parking is available around the beach.
