Kamari Tourist Resort

The resort of Kamari is situated on the coast in the south-western corner of the island, in the quiet tourist area of Kefalos Bay. However, the resort provides very good facilities for visitors. Kamari offers a variety of accommodation options, especially in the form of smaller family-run hotels, apartments and guesthouses, which make for a pleasant and comfortable stay close to the beach.

There are many restaurants and tavernas offering local Greek specialities, fresh fish and seafood. There are also several shops on the main promenade and in the adjacent streets, selling a variety of goods, from basic groceries to souvenirs and beach equipment.

Kamari resort is especially popular for its long beach with a beautiful view of the bay. It is also known as a harbour town, with the neighbouring larger resort of Kefalos also using the harbour.

On the hill above Kamari village stands the Monastery of St. John (Agios Ioannis), a small blue and white church with beautiful interior decoration. On the 29th of August, it is the destination of local pilgrims.

The islet of Kastri in the middle of the bay, where there is a small church with a blue and white paint job, is a particular eye-catcher. The island is accessible by boat or pedal boat, and good swimmers can reach it from the beach. The reefs around the islet are rich in underwater life.
