Kampos - Kos Island

The small and quiet resort of Kampos is situated on the coast in the southwestern corner of the island, close to the more famous resort of Kefalos. Smaller hotels and family villas predominate here, providing a peaceful and pleasant environment. The resort's tourist facilities include several restaurants, tavernas and shops selling basic groceries and small souvenirs. We recommend a visit to one of the local tavernas serving traditional dishes, including Greek specialities and fresh fish.

Towards the interior is the original village of Kampos, which is very interesting and certainly worth a visit. The village has a small museum dedicated to the traditional life and culture of the island. This museum presents an exhibition of various agricultural tools, household equipment, clothing and other items that were part of the daily life of the local inhabitants in past centuries. The exhibition is designed to bring visitors closer to the traditional crafts, customs and lifestyle of Kos, before the development of mass tourism.

The holiday resort of Kampos is adjacent to several beautiful beaches. In close proximity to the resort is the sand and shingle beach of Agios Stefanos, which is famous for uncovering a small archaeological site right on the shore with the remains of the early Christian basilica of Agios Stefanos. In the western part of the resort, the long beach of Kefalos extends here, and towards the east, in a small rocky bay, Camel Beach stretches.

Thanks to its location close to natural and historical attractions, Kampos offers a peaceful atmosphere for visitors who want to experience traditional Greek culture and enjoy an undisturbed holiday away from the big tourist centres. Kefalos Bay is popular for its spectacular views, especially towards the small island of Kastri with the Chapel of St. Nicholas.
