Kardamena Tourist Resort

Originally a fishing village, Kardamena has developed into a modern tourist centre, but still retains some elements of traditional Greek life. It is one of the larger holiday resorts on the island of Kos and currently has about 1300 inhabitants. Kardamena is particularly popular for its pleasant and relaxed atmosphere, its beautiful beach and its wide range of entertainment and relaxation options. Kardamena is known as an original fishing village with a harbour, which today serves not only fishermen, but mainly as an anchorage for cruise ships and smaller yachts. During the peak summer season, boats leave the small harbour every day and head for interesting tourist destinations in the area, such as the nature reserve on the island of Nisyros. Nisyros is famous for its active volcano.

Due to its size and location, Kardamena is an ideal starting point for exploring the island. The resort of Kardamena is located about 28 km from the capital of Kos and only 7 km from the international airport. In the surroundings of Kardamena, the original mountain village of Antimachia, located about 5 km to the northwest, is worth a visit. The village offers a glimpse of traditional architecture and there is also a well-preserved Venetian castle with a beautiful view of the surrounding area.

Families may find the nearby Aquatica Water Park, which offers a range of water attractions, attractive, or the Plaka Forest Animal Park, a great tip for anyone wanting to escape into nature for a while.
