Tourist resort Lambi

The resort of Lambi is one of the smaller tourist resorts on the island, but thanks to its proximity to the main town of Kos, guests can enjoy not only relaxation by the sea, but also quality tourist facilities in the form of several excellent tavernas, restaurants and shops with a variety of goods.

Visitors can then find a wider and richer range of shops, restaurants, bars and car and motorbike rental services in the nearby metropolis. The main town of Kos is only 2 km away from Lambi and is accessible on foot or by bicycle, as the surrounding terrain is flat and connected by cycle and pedestrian paths.

Accommodation options in Lambi are relatively varied. Visitors can take advantage of smaller hotels, apartment houses and family-run guesthouses. Most of the accommodations are located within walking distance of the beach or right next to it.

Lambi beach (Nea Alikarnassos)

The main asset of the holiday resort is the long sandy and pebble beach of Lambi, also known among tourists under the modern name of Nea Alikarnassos, which stretches along the coast for about one kilometre. The beach is well equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas, and there are also several beach bars, shops and water sports centres. Visitors to the beach can relax and spend their free time actively, trying out various water sports or playing beach volleyball.

Lambi Beach boasts clear turquoise waters that deepen just a few steps from the shore. However, in some parts of the beach the seabed is covered with smooth rocks, so it is advisable to be careful when entering the water for the first time and to take your water shoes with you.

Due to its proximity to the town centre, Lambi attracts a large number of visitors every day.

Excursions from Lambi

The resort of Lambi offers easy access to the beautiful capital of Kos, which is the historical, cultural and social centre of the island. In a relatively small space, visitors can explore important historical sites such as the Knights' Castle of Neratzia, the remains of the ancient marketplace of Agora or the rare ancient excavations housed in the Archaeological Museum. We also highly recommend a visit to the ancient healing temple of Asklepion, located about 4 km from Kos town towards the interior of the island.

From Lambi, it is easy to make excursions into the surrounding area, with buses taking you to Kos town in a short while and then anywhere on the island that has public bus services. We also recommend renting a car or motorbike and visiting the more remote or less accessible places, such as the picturesque mountain villages of Zia, Lagoudi or Asfendiou with their spectacular views, or the beautiful beaches of Cavo Paradiso, Limnionas, Paradise (Bubble Beach) etc. on the south-western tip of the island. For active hikers, there is also an interconnected network of cycling and walking trails that allow for excursions around the area.

The thermal springs of Embros Therma, located about 13 km south of Lambi, are a popular excursion destination. These healing hot springs, enriched with large amounts of calcium, sodium, sulphur, magnesium ions and other substances, spring up just off the coast and together with the surrounding rocks form a small natural lake.

Boat trips from Kos Town are also popular - cruises around the coast of Kos Island, boat trips to the nearby islands of Kalymnos, Plati and Pserimos with swimming, a cruise to the volcanic island of Nisyros, accompanied by a visit to its capital Mandraki and a descent into the volcanic crater of Stefanos itself, or a cruise to the Turkish port town of Bodrum for shopping and a true Turkish atmosphere.

For whom is Lambi suitable

Lambi is ideal for those looking for a quieter place to stay close to the bustling city. It is particularly popular with those who prefer smaller resorts with good access to services.
