The small, pleasant sandy beach of Glystra is located in the southeastern part of the Greek island of Rhodes, about 53 km south of the capital city. The beach is especially famous for its crystal clear water.
Glystra Beach is located between the resorts of Lardos and Kiotari, on the main road connecting the popular tourist resort of Lindos with the south of the island. The important archaeological site of Lindos (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) is about 13 km away from here.
The beach is situated in a small bay, which is rather smaller (about 200 m) and covered with wonderfully fine, golden sand that gradually continues also on the seabed. The sea in the bay is crystal clear and if you have diving googles with you, you can see schools of small fish. There are sun loungers and parasols for hire, a small tavern and free parking places.
Glystra tends to be a quiet beach, although in the high season you may find, that there are no sun loungers available when you arrive after midday. However, part of the beach is left free and visitors can lie down anywhere here. Thanks to the heated and fine sand, this is not a problem. The beach is not very optimal for walking around, as there's only the road and otherwise wild nature beyond the beach.
Glystra Beach is especially popular among families with small children, as the combination of fine sand, gradual entry into the water and calm sea is absolutely ideal for small children. Only in the middle of the beach there is a part where there are stones (even bigger and sharp ones) at the entrance to the sea and you should wear water shoes here.
