The long and spacious sand and shingle beach of Lachania is located in the southeastern part of the Greek island of Rhodes, about 74 km southwest of the capital city.
The beach forms part of the tourist resort of the same name, Lachania, which is one of the most peaceful places on the island of Rhodes. In terms of tourism, there are a few small villas and hotels and one large modern hotel resort, built right on the coast to which always an organised part of the beach, equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas, belongs. Lachania Beach is also known for its excellent fish taverns.
However, the most part of the beach is left natural and, due to the smaller number of tourists heading here to the south of Rhodes, it is also very quiet. In fact, the only busy part of Lachania Beach is the stretch belonging to the large hotel complex. To the north of Lachania Beach lies the long pebble beach of Gennadi, while to the south lies the quiet and isolated beach of Plimiri. Popular tourist destinations include the nearby beautiful sand dune beaches of Agios Georgios and Mavros Kavos and the unique "surfing" beach of Prasonisi.
Lachania Beach is covered mostly with a mixture of sand and pebbles, with some parts of the beach transitioning into pure pebbles. The sea is wonderfully clear in this area and the entrance to the water is not too steep.
