Stegna Beach - Rhodes Island
The quiet, organised sand and shingle beach of Stegna is located on the east coast of the Greek island of Rhodes and is popular among families with children. Its distance is about 30 km south of the capital city of Rhodes.
Stegna Beach is the main beach of the small and peaceful eponymous holiday resort of Stegna and the centre of the local tourist industry. The beach lies in a picturesque bay near the town of Archangelos and is very well protected by the surrounding rocky landscape. It is about 1 km long and is divided by a small harbour.
The part of the beach to the left of the harbour is a little wilder, with rocks jutting out of the sea and the rocky walls make it an ideal place for diving and snorkelling. There is a private beach for the clients of the local hotel and many small beaches hidden in the rocks where you can enjoy peace and privacy.
To the right of the harbour is the main part of Stegna Beach, which is made up of beautifully fine sand and towards the sea a mixture of sand and pebbles. The beach is equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas, sanitary facilities and you also can take advantage of the local offer of adrenaline sports or rent a motorboat. A pleasant promenade stretches along the beach, full of taverns, snack stalls and a variety of shops.
Stegna Beach belongs to the quiet beaches and is not overcrowded even in the peak tourist season. In combination with fine sand and crystal clear water it is an ideal place for rest and relaxation. Families with smaller children are often seen here.
If you like sandy beaches and want to take a trip to another beautiful and nearby beach, head north along the coast to Tsambika Beach. Tsambika is rated as one of the most beautiful beaches on Rhodes and the sand here is really beautiful, soft and golden. For example, try renting a boat and sailing around the nearby beaches, as some are only accessible from the sea and you will have an extraordinary experience.
