The traditional Greek village of Mandriko is located on the west coast of the Greek island of Rhodes, about 40 km southwest of the capital city. Mandriko is famous for its vegetable production.
Mandriko is a small village, but it is incredibly agriculturally productive and the locals are also very active in cattle breeding. If you drive through the town you can see a large number of greenhouses, fields and other agricultural areas even from the road. Together with the nearby villages of Kritinia and Embonas, this area is one of the largest agricultural producers on Rhodes, producing almost a third of all the vegetables on the island.
The village of Mandriko lies on the west coast of Rhodes between the resort of Kalavarda and the historic town of Kamiros (to the north) and the fishing village of Kamiros Skala (to the south). It has about 240 permanent inhabitants. The resort also has a small beach of the same name, Mandriko.
Mandriko Beach is wild and unorganised, but it offers its visitors the desired privacy and shade under the surrounding trees. However, due to the deep water, we do not recommend swimming for families with children and less skilled swimmers. However, it is definitely worth coming here in the evening when you will be rewarded with a stunning sunset view.
Mandriko is definitely not the most touristy seaside resort on Rhodes, but you can enjoy the true, peaceful Greek way of life and especially the breathtaking sunset view. The focal point of the village is a small square with a traditional café, which comes alive especially in the evening and the beautiful Holy Trinity Church.
