The picturesque village of Pilonas is located on the east coast of the Greek island of Rhodes, near the famous resort of Lindos. It can be found about 46 km south of the capital city of Rhodes.
The village of Pilonas (or Pylona) is really a very quiet place, most of the locals are engaged in agriculture and partly in tourism, running taverns, shops and offering small accommodation for rent.
The village has two beautiful landmarks - the two beautiful Greek Orthodox churches of St. Gerasimos and St. George.
Pilonas is not directly on the coast, but about 2.5 km inland.
The coastline and beaches are not far away and there are plenty of beaches to choose from - the closest ones are the pleasant and well-equipped sand and shingle beach of Vlicha and the really long and quiet sand and shingle beach of Kalathos.
However, tourists from the village of Pilonas will not want to miss a visit to the nearby tourist resort of Lindos, including the ancient acropolis on top of the hill and its beautiful beaches of Lindos, Pallas or St. Paul's Bay.
What can you expect from Pilonas Village? First of all a peaceful and quiet environment and friendly inhabitants. There are individual rooms for rent or smaller family-run guesthouses and villas to accommodate tourists and the village has only basic tourist services, for more shopping and entertainment, you'll have to go to the larger tourist resorts on the coast.
However, in terms of travel Pilonas is in an excellent location, roughly in the middle of the east coast of Rhodes and on the main road connecting the north and south of the island. So each day, you can head in a different direction and gradually discover the island's greatest beauties. You can reach the capital city of Rhodes, which lies on the northern tip, within an hour.
