The small, isolated Fakinos beach is located in the northeastern part of the Greek island of Santorini, about 5 km northeast of the main town of Fira.
Fakinos is a nice beach with dark sand and pebbles, but outside the maintained part the beach surface is very rough and rocky. Fakinos is one of the quieter to more isolated beaches, as it is off the main road - a signpost directs you off the main road and a dirt road then takes you to the coast. Most of the time, you'll only encounter a few tourists or locals here, making Fakinos beach ideal for relaxing, swimming in the turquoise waters of the Aegean Sea and sunbathing undisturbed. However, if the wind is strong, be careful when swimming in the sea, as there are big waves.
The beach has a small beach bar (Fakinos Beach Bar), which is very nice because you can buy a cold drink and a small snack. The owner of the bar also takes care of a few sunbeds with straw parasols, which are free for visitors.
Along the coast towards the south you will come across Vourvoulos beach, a nice and well-kept beach with a small harbour. During your stay in this area, you can visit the nearby Vassaltis Vineyards winery. This is a relatively new and modern winery, with a large selection of local and non-Greek wines and mostly very positive tourist reviews.
