Kamari Beach - Santorini

One of the most beautiful and favourite beaches of Santorini, the sandy beach of Kamari, lies on the east coast of the island. It is located near the airport, approximately 9 kilometres southeast from the capital city of Fira.

Kamari belongs to the longest beaches of Santorini. It is around 2 kilometres long and consists of black rough volcanic sand. The beach is well organized and fully equipped, offering the visitors many sunbeds with umbrellas, showers or lifeguard services. There is a diving centre on the beach as well, profiting from the very clear water in this area, but except diving and snorkelling, you can try out many more water sport activities here.

The Kamari Beach has actually everything necessary for spending a relaxing and cool day on it and although it is quite crowded, it was awarded by the famous Blue Flag for the cleanliness and tidiness. There is a promenade with several shops, restaurants, cafes and bars going along the beach, which gets very lively during the evenings and nights.

The beach is a part of the sea resort of Kamari, having also other beautiful beaches in its neighbourhood, for example Perissa or Monolithos. Kamari lies on the foot of the impressive Mesa Vouno mountain, on which top the famous archaeological site of Ancient Thera is located. The mountain is lighted up and showing a nice picture of itself during the night.
