The narrow sandy beach of Agios Sostis is located in the southern part of the Greek island of Zakynthos, in the bay of Laganas. It is located about 12 km southwest of the main town of Zante. A wooden bridge leads from the beach to the eponymous island of Agios Sostis, also known as Cameo Island.
Agios Sostis is a small sandy beach located in the western part of the vast bay of Laganas, adjacent to the tourist resort of the same name, Agios Sostis. The resort of Agios Sostis is a pleasant and quiet resort, which is especially popular with couples and families with smaller children. It has good tourist facilities and beautiful surrounding nature.
The beach of Agios Sostis is a sandy beach with a gradual entrance to the sea (at the entrance to the sea it is very shallow, then the sea bottom slopes faster). It is quite long, but very narrow, and in some parts of the beach it is possible to place, for example, only one row of deck chairs or beach towels. However, Agios Sostis beach is connected to the neighbouring beaches, which are more spacious, at both ends. To the east you can walk to one of the most popular beaches in Zakynthos, the sandy, spacious and very well organised Laganas beach.
Agios Sostis is an organised beach. A long promenade stretches along the beach with many restaurants, tavernas, bars and various small shops. On some parts of the beach you can rent umbrellas and sunbeds, while other parts of the beach are left free.
The beach also has a small fishing harbour, where cruise boats are nowadays moored. You can rent a boat or a dinghy (on your own or with a skipper) and explore the coastline around Zakynthos, which offers many interesting places. In the bay of Laganas there are three small islands Marathonisi, Pelouzo and Cameo (Sostis). Popular boat trips also include a cruise around the blue caves or to the wreck of a smuggler's ship on Navagio beach.
The island of Marathonisi is also known as "turtle island" and sightseeing cruises to see Caretta turtles pass by it. Some beaches on Marathonisi are completely closed to the public, but some are open to tourists. Here you can sunbathe, swim in the sea and, if you're lucky, watch the protected turtles. However, the islet of Pelouzo is completely closed to tourists as it has become a sanctuary for the protected Monachus monachus. However, the symbol of the resort and the beach of Agios Sostis has become the island of Cameo (Agios Sostis), a small island of pine trees, because it can be reached on foot by a wooden bridge from the beach of Agios Sostis. However, it is a nature reserve and there is a fee to enter the island, there are also two bars on the island and a beautiful small pebble beach on the hidden side of Cameo.
