The long sandy beach of Alykanas (also spelled Alikanas) is famous for its crystal clear water and shallow entrance to the sea, so it is also popular with families with small children and the elderly. The beach is situated in the gently curving bay of Alykes, at the tip of which is a small harbour where fishing boats and smaller cruise boats are moored. In the opposite direction (to the north) Alikanas beach is smoothly connected to the neighbouring Alykes beach. Visually, the two beaches are separated by the mouth of the small river Skourtis in the sea.

Alikanas Beach is located in close proximity to the holiday resort of the same name, Alikanas. The tourist facilities of the resort and the beach are very good, visitors can rent sunbeds and umbrellas on the beach, but there is also plenty of free space. There is also a wide range of water sports on offer, such as windsurfing, kitesurfing, paragliding, kayaking, pedal boating, etc. There are several tavernas and beach bars around the beach, while other tavernas, restaurants and accommodation services are available in the adjacent resort of Alikanas.

Alikanas beach is a continuation of the better known and busier Alykes beach, so you can easily walk along the coast to the neighbouring resort of Alykes. From the small harbour on the other side of the beach, boats regularly leave during the summer season for some of the most beautiful places on Zakynthos, such as the famous blue caves or the famous beaches of the island. Alikanas lies in a gently curving bay and the coastline of the nearby island of Kefalonia can be seen in the distance.
