The isolated, pebble beach of Marathia is located at the southernmost tip of Zakynthos, which is called Cape Keri or just Cape Marathia. This is the westernmost part of the vast and popular Laganas Bay. The coastline of the island is very rugged and rocky and the sea is azure blue. The seabed here sinks faster than in the central part of the bay, where the famous beaches of Laganas, Kalamaki and Agios Sostis are located.

Marathia beach is secluded from the busy resorts of the island, so we recommend it especially to those who want absolute peace and relaxation. On the slope above the beach there is only a complex of several holiday villas and apartments, the nearest tourist facilities in the form of restaurants, taverns and shops are offered by the resort of Limni Keri (about 2.5 km). Therefore, do not forget to bring plenty of liquids and food to the beach.

There is minimal parking at the beach, the descent from the main road is more difficult (on a narrow winding path) and there is no beach service. This is one of the reasons why this beautiful place does not attract a large number of tourists and thus retains the character of a protected place. Marathia enchants with its beautiful rocky landscape, hills covered with lush greenery and extensive plantations. Tall pine trees provide pleasant shade on hot summer days and, together with the crystal clear and calm water, give the beach an exotic atmosphere.

A short walk from the beach is the harbour from which water taxis leave for the turtle island of Marathonisi. Marathia beach has a beautiful view of it. Thanks to the interesting rock formations and the crystal clear sea, the area around the southern tip of Keri is also very popular with diving and snorkelling enthusiasts, especially the caves of Keri and the white rocks of Myzithres are recommended. From the harbour on the nearby Keri beach, boats and barges leave daily for cruises to the most interesting places on Zakynthos.
