The small and very pleasant sandy beach of Plaka is located in the southeastern part of the Greek island of Zakynthos, near the famous tourist resort of Vassilikos. Plaka beach is located about 15 km southeast of the main town of Zante.
Plaka Beach is a small sandy beach, named after the adjacent hotel complex Plaka Beach Resort. The hotel resort and beach is located on the south-eastern tip of Zakynthos, about 2.5 km from the centre of the tourist resort of Vassilikos.
The beach is covered with fine, golden sand, which continues gently further along the seabed. The sea in this small bay is calm and beautifully clear, and the gradual entry into the water is also popular with families with children and non-swimmers.
Plaka beach is well maintained and organised. Sun loungers and umbrellas, showers and toilets are available to visitors. Refreshments and cold drinks are available at the beach bar and the nearby tavern, while the adjacent hotel provides other services for its clients. Plaka is one of the quiet beaches, for water sports we recommend going to the neighbouring Banana beach.
The beach is easily accessible, with a turn off the main road between Argassi and Vassilikos leading down to Plaka beach. However, parking at the taverna is charged, so some people leave their cars just up the road.
There are several beautiful beaches in the area around Vassilikos. To the north, Plaka beach is adjacent to the long sandy Banana beach, which is one of the largest beaches on the island and also one of the most beautiful. To the south, there is the well-organised sandy beach of Agios Nikolaos and the smaller and quieter sandy beach of Porto Roma.
