Tourist resort Amoudi

Amoudi (sometimes also Ammoudi) is a small and quiet village off the northeast coast of Zakynthos, set in the picturesque surroundings of the surrounding vineyards, olive groves and other small fields farmed by the locals. The surrounding countryside is green and relatively fertile, with the larger hills rising beyond the village further inland.

Tourism in Amoudi is developing rather slowly, but basic tourist facilities exist. Visitors can visit several pleasant tavernas, some of which specialise in traditional Greek cuisine, others offer more international cuisine and there is also a fish tavern. There are several shops and bars in the centre of the resort, but the nightlife in Amoudi is very quiet. Most of the accommodation is close to the sea, with the majority being ground floor villas with studios and apartments or smaller family-run hotels.

The tourist resort of Amoudi lies in a quiet part of the island, away from the main holiday resorts. It is surrounded by villages very similar in type to Psarou, Drosia, Xehoriati or Gerakari. The quieter resorts of Alykes and Alykanas lie about 2 to 3 km to the west. The popular holiday resort of Tsilivi with its many shops, tavernas and a wide range of entertainment is about 8 km from Amoudi and the capital of Zakynthos is about 14 km away.

Amoudi beach and tips for trips

Adjacent to Amoudi is the beach of the same name, Amoudi (or Ammoudi), a small and pleasant sandy beach, equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas. Thanks to its gradual entry into the sea, it is also suitable for families with children, and its good quality is reflected in the award of the EU Blue Flag. The bright blue water is inviting from afar and snorkelling enthusiasts will also have fun here.

To the south, Amoudi beach is smoothly connected to other smaller and quieter beaches such as Psarou beach with its marina and Drosia beach. To the north we would reach the more famous beaches of Alykanas and Alykes.

In addition to exploring the nearby and more distant beaches, we would recommend that tourists from Amoudi also discover the beauty of the surrounding green landscape, which invites you to take romantic walks or bike rides. Boat trips are also very popular on Zakynthos, and there are several to take - a cruise to the island of Marathonisi to see the protected Caretta-Caretta turtles, a visit to the smugglers' shipwreck bay (Navagio) or a cruise to the beautiful blue caves. For historical sightseeing we recommend a trip to the capital of Zakynthos, the island also boasts a number of beautiful monasteries and churches.

Public bus routes to Amoudi don't run very often, but there are car (or motorbike, scooter or bicycle) hire services. This is an ideal way to explore the Greek island of Zakynthos with its beautiful nature, beautiful beaches and historical sites.

For whom is Amoudi suitable

Due to the peaceful nature of the resort and the adjacent beach, we would recommend a stay in Amoudi to tourists who want to relax during their vacation, especially from the noise and stress of their daily work life, or families with children. The smaller accommodations offer plenty of privacy and quiet to relax, while the coastline offers a beautiful view of the sea in the distance. The sea at Amoudi is azure clear and suitable for snorkelling.

Visitors to Amoudi can rely on the basic tourist services, which include excellent tavernas, several small shops and a vehicle rental service. The resort's nightlife is provided by several quieter bars.
