Tourist resort Tragaki

The village of Tragaki is surrounded by beautiful nature and hilly countryside and still manages to maintain its original character. The village has about 600 inhabitants who are mainly engaged in agriculture. Tourism is developing very slowly, with taverns, some of which are renowned for their excellent seafood specialities, and bars. In terms of accommodation, smaller villas, studios and apartments predominate in Tragaki, and there are also several nice hotels towards the coast.

Tragaki is located in the interior of the island, in a quiet area away from the main holiday resorts. The nearest busier resorts are Tsilivi (approx. 4 km), Alykanas (approx. 8 km) and then the capital of Zakynthos, a beautiful harbour town with historical monuments and entertainment options (approx. 9 km).

Nearby beaches and tips for trips

Tragaki is about 3 to 4 km from the sea and the nearest beaches include Bouka Beach, a very peaceful beach that is popular with visitors thanks to its crystal clear water and fine sand. Other smaller and pleasant beaches such as Planos, Gaidaros or Drosia are also nearby. If you would like to visit a busier beach with excellent service and water sports, we recommend the nearby Tsilivi beach.

The surrounding countryside of the village attracts tourists especially for walking and cycling, and some tourists also come to Tragaki because of the campsites located here (the most famous ones are Zante or Paradise). The nearby Convent of the Virgin Mary is worth a visit, whose icon, according to local legend, was found in one of the nearby caves.

Water lovers can enjoy two nearby water parks. On the outskirts of Tsilivi (about 3.5 km from Tragaki) is the Tsilivi Water Park, with its many slides, water slides and various water features for children and adults. The larger water park Zante Water Village is located near the village of Sarakinado (approx. 6.5 km) and is very popular.

Tragaki is a small and very quiet tourist resort, ideal for those who want to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the big city and crowded holiday resorts during their vacation. The countryside around Tragaki is particularly suitable for relaxation, attracting cycling and hiking. The surrounding vineyards, olive groves and orchards are very calming.

Basic tourist facilities in the form of tavernas, shops and bars are available to visitors in Tragaki, but for more shopping and livelier nightlife we recommend a trip to the nearby tourist resort of Tsilivi.
