Skinari Lighthouse is a circular stone structure 9.5 metres high, built in 1897.The tower itself is complemented by a smaller lighthouse keeper's house. The lighthouse stands on a rock 67 metres above sea level and offers a magnificent view of the Ionian Sea and the lighthouse surroundings. The lighthouse has been declared a protected monument by the Greek Ministry of Culture and therefore it is not possible to reach the structure itself.

The whole area around Cape Skinari is well-known and popular as a destination for excursions because of the so-called "blue caves". A trip to these caves, where the water glows clear and turquoise, is not to be missed. You will have an experience you will never forget. A trip to the blue caves or to the famous Navagio beach with the wreck of a smuggler's ship can also be purchased during a trip to the Skinari lighthouse. There is a small free parking lot, a tavern and a tour stand a short walk from the lighthouse.

There are also several historic stone windmills near the lighthouse, and two of these windmills have even been converted into accommodation. A tavern also operates near the windmills. You can spend a few magical days of your holiday here! From the windmills, stairs lead down to one of the so-called blue caves. This is the only cave that can be reached by land, the others can only be reached by boat from the sea.

The area around Skinari is not only beautiful to look at, but also important from an environmental point of view. It is here that a plant blooms that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
